Tools

The tools you need.

Intro

This time i want to talk about the tools you can use for modeling.

We all use different tools, it depends on what YOU like. There are so many things on the
market, some are expensive, some are cheap.

I will talk about the tools that I use. So you have an idea of what you can use if you want to start with scale modeling.

My personal brand that i use is Revell. They have many thinks you can use and you can have a look in the catalog.

Ready to cut

I use simple tools for cutting the parts from the sprue.

Nail clippers.

Scalpels.

If the parts are cut of, i use nail files to smooth out the parts.

For the small part you can use tweezers.

For the heavy duty you can use a Dremel.

Revell also brings out a starters kit with everything in it.

Ready to build

When the parts are cut of and ready for assembly, this is what i use.

For gluing everything together i use liquid glue for plastic from Revell.

For fixing the pieces.

Ready for paint

When everything is glued together, you are ready to paint your model ... this is where it gets interesting....

There are so many different paints

I use Revell paints at the moment, but i'm going to test other paints to see what the results would be. You can follow everything on this blog ...

So let's see what i use for the painting.

First you have to mask some parts of.

Maybe you can use latex gloves to keep it clean.

Short Aviation History

Aviation from the beginning until now.

The humans always wanted to fly.
Many of us tried and failed.
But a lucky few succeeded.

Leonardo da Vinci

He was a Italian polymath who had so many interest.
One of them was flying.
So he developed several flying machines.

The "Helical Air Screw" or simply the "airscrew",
the device was designed to compress air to obtain flight – similar to today’s helicopters.

The "flying machine" or simply the "ornithopter", ca. 1485,
The design for this invention is clearly inspired by the flight of winged animals, which
da Vinci hoped to replicate. In fact, in his notes, he mentions bats, kites and birds as sources of inspiration.

Wright Brothers

Orville and Wilbur Wright in 1905

Two American brothers, inventors, and aviation pioneers who are credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903.

The Wright Flyer I
The plane flew about 12 seconds over 120 ft.

Sins that day the evolution of aviation never stopped. Until this day new technology is gives us modern planes for military and civil use.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner

is a long range, mid size wide bodytwin engine jet airliner developed by

Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II

The F-35 took its first flight on 15 December 2006.
It's the fifth generation combat aircraft. It is designed to perform ground attack,

The evolution never stops ...

Introduction Model building.

What are scale models?

Everybody has seen a scale model.
In a museum, airport, office building, ...

Some use it to inform people how a building would look like,
or to introduce a new car model.

I will show you a couple of different scale models.

Models of buildings.

Models of ships.

Models of  trains.

Models of cars.

A famous diorama is the Citroën C3 rally diorama.

Models of war.

But what's really important for this blog and my hobby is ...
building a airport diorama.

So now you have a idea about scale modelling.
